Introducing CAROL, Japanese student.

Carol is an Australian born in Japan.
My mother was a Japanese war bride married to an Australian soldier.

She is studying Japanese at Berlitz so that she can speak more easily
with her Japanese relatives when they visit, and when she goes to Japan.
I came here (to Australia) at 2 ½ and I was fluent in Japanese,
But I lost it when I went to school because politically it wasn’t a good idea
to continue speaking Japanese at the time (because of the war) which is a real shame.

Also I want to keep my brain active! Its’ good when you get to middle age to practice languages, its good for your cognitive skills. I love it. Coming here is very good. Because the classes are small and it’s all about conversation, its not an academic exercise, you are not being tested. And in a group you are all encouraging each other. It’s a team thing. The teacher facilitates your progress. So it’s more hands on. That environment is better. If I could, I would come every day for 2 hours!
